Two years ago, Sara's husband left for the gym one morning...and never came back. His car was found. He wasn't. Unbelievably, the police report said, "no foul play suspected." There were a few sightings over the following months, but little else.

Now, on the last day before summer break, her three children have gone missing from their schools, all at the same time.

And the note under her windshield wiper asks one foreboding question Are you ready to play the game?

Sara Game (Audible Audio Edition) Ernie Lindsey Erin Spencer Books

First I would like to say I am in no way paid to review this novel. I'm not a friend nor a family member. I downloaded it free and have chosen to give my honest opinion.

Sara's Game is just that a game where Sara the player has to rescue her children from a menacing entity (evil human). As I read this novel, I knew who the culprit was far sooner than the author thought was possible. There were no real shocks in this story. It was very easy to figure out, but the "game" was fun watch unfold.

There are areas of suspense and you truly do feel for Sara. But the constant repeating of words was a bit unnerving...for example, stupid, stupid, stupid I got it the first time. Granted the author wanted to make you aware of the stress going on in the scene, but that was described very well through the visual.

The story is well written and the author definitely pulls the in reader in...mystery? No. Drama? Yes. would I recommend this novel to a mystery reader? NO. I would recommend it to someone who likes to cheer for the underdog. A great drama with little in the way of mystery.

Sara Game (Audible Audio Edition) Ernie Lindsey Erin Spencer Books Reviews

Wow, this writer has written a LOT of books... I can't believe it's taken me so long to "discover" him. (Kinda like Columbus "discovered" America.) With so many reviews already written, I probably don't need to add my three cents' (inflation) worth, but I'm gonna say a few words, anyway.

I've read some very good series before, but I'm not always a fan of them. Matter of fact, some of them flat-out annoy me. You know the kind of books I'm talking about. The ones that suck you in and then don't give you an ending, like the old "Perils of Pauline" serials at the movie theater used to do. They just leave you hanging in mid-story without a proper landing. Cliff-hangers, they call them. More like manipulation to get readers to buy the next book, if you ask me. This book is different. Yes, it's the first in a series, but it also stands on its own two feet (so to speak) as a thoroughly enjoyable book. In a nutshell, I don't feel manipulated to buy the next book(s) in this series. (And his other series, too... like I said, this guy has written a LOT of books!) I'll be buying the other books because I WANT to read more about these characters.

This is a terrific edge-of-your-seat story about a brilliant gaming executive who's forced to play a very high-stakes game. At stake? The lives of her children. They're being held and tortured by the psycho who's orchestrating the game, setting all the levels, and dictating all the moves.

Four and a half very strong stars.
I received this book for free, and considering some others I've attempted in the freebie realm, it excelled at many things. Unfortunately, it fell short for me overall.

The main plot is interesting, and although you guess who's behind the "game" fairy quickly, it does not distract from the story. The writing is good and editing even better. One problem with the book was believability and another was characterizations.

Sara, the main character, finds out her children are kidnapped, and the kidnapper has an elaborate scheme for Sara to attempt their release. So far so good, but Sara is supposed to be capable, strong, a "bulldog". She doesn't come across that way to me, and with all her mental cheerleading, I quickly got bored with her. Pages and pages of "you can do this" was enough to make me want to set the book aside. If you don't like the main character, it's hard to finish a book!

Secondly, the role of the police in this book is ludicrous, and although I liked the characters, they were inconsequential and unbelievable. That was my largest complaint. A kidnapping, but no FBI or police protocols for the situation.

For me, the book was just OK. With better character development and more believable police procedure, this could have been a winner of a novel. Would I recommend it, probably not, but I do believe the author is worth another shot. As a free read and an introduction to a new author, it was well worth it for me. .That is how I came to the decision to rate it a 3 star....for future potential!
This captivating thriller was impossible for me to put down. Sara's husband Brian disappeared two years ago, and she has been juggling her three children, her home, and her bills alone, while successfully managing a hectic, stressful marketing job, as well as playing "house mother" to the young game designers at work. But Sara's stress is about to get much worse. Just as she's about to launch a promising new game, she receives an emergency phone call that plunges her into a nightmare. Her three children have been kidnapped, and she must play a deadly "game" at the mercy of a diabolical "voice" on the phone in order to rescue them. What follows is a nail biting roller coaster ride, with multiple twists and turns, that kept me turning the page to find out what happens next. As Sara complies with the kidnapper's demands, she struggles to outwit her tormentors and keep her children alive until she can figure out how to recover them. During the ordeal, the mystery of her husband's disappearance is also revealed. This book will keep you riveted, and guessing, to the very end! (Plus, there's a teaser for the next book in the series!) Thoroughly enjoyed it!
I chose 4 stars because I really got into the story. Reading a book that is interesting and without grammatical errors everywhere is such a treat! Especially when you are so desperate to turn the pages to see what happens next! I would have given five stars but I felt a little let down at the ending. It wasn't bad but , I feel like I will have to go on to part two. I guess that's the deal with series. Mostly I tend to stay away from those. All and all if you like crime thrillers, who dun-its,mystery and page turners then you'll like this book.
