I can't begin to express in words how much I loved this story & each character. The author left no stone unturned, by the end there's a feeling of completeness that all is as should be. The writing was poetic, she has a true gift with words. She makes you feel every emotion. The villains make you want to scream at the page & slap them silly while the intimate moments have you either laughing with joy or tearing up from the sweet sentiments. Diane does a beautiful job not only expressing the difficulty yet simplicity of forbidden love but also loving two people so completely. She explores many aspects, doing the right thing & denying yourself for the ones you love. Having faith that their time will come. Never letting go even when it's painful. And...a few thing I will keep in the dark for future readers. It's rare an author can create such a dynamic within these two relationships without coming across as cheap, incestuous or unfaithful. Instead she writes of the purity & innocence of it & the complexities of being split in two. Her heart and her soul. It's powerful and stays with you long after the final page. Their story has become my story by how deeply I felt them with me. And still do. For me, there's no team Donovan vs team Christopher but team Donovan & Christopher. Both men were beautiful souls, what woman could choose between them. I'm still in awe. I wish I could read it again for the first time & I'm jealous of those who will get to. This series is going into my favorites shelf & I will be following Diane Rinella's work in the future. If you haven't had a chance to read the Novella Love's Erotic Flower, and you aren't put off by a more risqué look into their bedroom (because it is steamy) find someone with a copy & request it. Like so many others who have reviewed this book and the last one ("Love's Forbidden Flower"), it is hard to review without giving away any spoilers. Lily and Donovan are soul mates... they are also brother and sister. Their love is a forbidden love and one they do the best they can to deal with while trying not to hurt others.

There are so, so many secrets revealed in this book! I can't go into ANY of those without giving away things that you, the reader, need to experience for yourself! Like I mentioned in my review of "Love's Forbidden Flower", this could be a difficult read for some people because of the nature of the love story told. It is full of drama, heart-break, twists and turns, love and loss... and I loved every moment of it. I laughed and cried. I wanted to reach into the book and hug Christopher. I wanted to choke the you-know-what out of a couple of females (I'll let you figure out who on your own). A few times I experienced an "Oh my God!" moment with my jaw on the floor and my hand over my mouth. For me, it was THAT good.

The ending? It was AMAZING! I can't think of any other possible way it could have ended that would have been better. Great job, Diane.... you have a new fan!
Once again, a beautiful love story!! The love between Lily and Donovan is strengthened even more in the last of this series. I was hesitant to start this series, because of the subject matter, but I am so happy that I did. Not only did I have problems putting this book down but I lost so many hours of sleep because I had to know how Lily and Donovan's journey was going to end. Diane Rinella ended this book beautifully! Beautifully written, beautifully developed and a beautiful, beautiful love story!
In the first story, we're introduced to 2 complicated characters involved with one of society's biggest taboos incest. In this case, between siblings Lily and Donovan. I wondered how the author would approach this scandalous topic. The author certainly did her homework on the subject, even providing us with shocking numbers at the end of the last book at how common it actually is. And after doing some research to see if she was right, I was shocked to discover that yes she was. Studies indicate that approximately 10% of all teenagers commit incest for experimental purposes, and 10% of those that do actually have romantic feelings for each other! The author does a fabulous job of telling the story of just such a case.

Time's Forbidden Flower brings a satisfying end to Lily and Donovan'a story. With their love still strong, they struggle to resist their forbidden desires with the obstacles of their spouses in the way. I say obstacles because as wrong as Lily and Donovan's feelings are for each other, that is indeed what Christopher and Anna are. Anna was a true psycho who, although she gave Lily and Donovan's mother exactly what she deserved, was a wicked woman to the end. And as for Christopher, I never liked or trusted the guy in the first one, and disliked him even more in the sequel. I even thought he was cheating on Lily at one point. Although I was wrong about that, the guy was a real douchebag in my opinion, especially when he and Lily had their fight. Yet it kept feeling like Lily was finding redeeming qualities for him that excused everything he did. The guy was even somewhat racist, and it kept feeling like he was trying to change Lily from who she really was. Even Lily herself kept saying she felt like 2 people, one being Lily, her true self, and one being Lilyanna, who everyone said she should be. She also notices the difference between the 2 on several occasions.

While this was indeed a good read, I have to say that the reincarnation/past life BS really brought down my opinion of it. Not only was it stupid, completely unnecessary, and totally irrelevant to the actual story even except for to have a few more pages, it felt very forced, like reincarnation is a belief that the author holds and she's reinforcing it in her story to share and spread those beliefs. It was just an incredibly pointless plot element that I feel the story would have been much better without regardless of your religious beliefs.

Overall, this was a good read that, with a few hiccups, the author managed to successfully deliver. If you're not offended by a few of society's taboo subjects, both this and its predecessor are worth reading.
